Services

The School Social Worker and School Psychologist at East Hampton High School are dedicated to providing appropriate and needs based therapy to help adolescents deal with many social/emotional and behavioral problems that arise during the high school years. These social/emotional and behavioral difficulties may negatively impact their ability to meet with success both socially and academically. Below are just some of the services offered to students at East Hampton High School.

Therapy Services​

Counseling is available to all students to assist them in managing the normal developmental issues that arise during adolescence. Counseling can help students enhance self-understanding and learn effective problem solving and coping skills so that they will be better equipped to handle the variety of concerns that arise for high school students. 

​Educational Services

 In accordance with board policy and consistent with state and federal statutes, the counselors at East Hampton High School participate in the evaluations and function as a support for all students eligible for  special education and 504 services. In addition, the school social worker and school psychologist are designated as case managers for most of the Section 504 students enrolled at East Hampton High School.

​Group Thrapy

​Group Counseling is availabe to students who have been identified as having similar concerns that are negatively impacting academic progress.  Some examples of group topics include:

- Divorce

- Grief/Loss

- Anger Management

- Anxiety

 

Social Skills/Transition Services

Students who are eligible for social skills instruction and transition services through their IEP/504 plan will receive support from the School Psychologist and/or School Social Worker through weekly group counseling sessions and activities provided in the Transitional Life Skills class.

Referrals to Outside Agencies

Students and families can recieve information regarding community resources in the area to help with mental health issues that do not immediately impact academic progress. Some of the community resources recommended are: - Juvenile court (Family with Service Needs)

- Voluntary DCF services (including IICAPS)

- East Hampton Youth and Family

- Local counselors

- 211 (Emergency Mobile Psychiatric Services)

- Rushford (Substance Abuse)

- Referral to Care Coordination (Community Health Center in Middletown)
